A Small Church in a Big City

This past week, I had the honor and privilege of working with Reverend Amy Ziglar of the Mt. Zion AME Church in Roanoke Virginia. The Mt. Zion AME Church is heavily focused on service, and Rev. Ziglar says that it is one thing to preach things, but another thing to actually do something about it. That is why she has worked day in and day out to help the underprivileged, underserved, the unemployed, and the under employed. In just one week, my group was able to get a glimpse into the Church community and greater Roanoke community, where we met amazing people. The amount of love shown to us and each other was immeasurable.

One of the main initiatives Reverend Ziglar expressed was that she wanted to have more members of the community get involved with the church. One way she thought of doing this was creating a presence online. I soon found out that they did not even have a website for people to find. It was then that I knew my main goal for the week was getting them online and starting to spread the word about how wonderful of a community they are.

I ended up creating a Full Website and Facebook Page for the church, so that Reverend Ziglar and other members of the church can reach out to as many people as possible.

The amount of joy that that I was able to bring to Reverend Ziglar and the Mt. Zion AME Church community through these two mediums showed me yet again the immense power that technology has in today's world. Our hope is more and more people find out about the Church and the great work they are doing to help those in need.
